Mojito cocktail with champagne - detailed recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 45 - 60 ml dry champagne, Prosecco or other sparkling wine
  • 45 ml aged rum
  • A little bitters (preferably Angostura)
  • 1 handful fresh mint leaves (about 1 large sprig), plus extra for garnish
  • 15 ml freshly squeezed lime juice (1 lime)
  • 1 - 1.5 tsp very fine sugar or 15 ml sugar syrup (see recipe below)
  • Ice cubes

Sugar syrup:
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the mint leaves with the rum, lime juice, simple syrup, and bitters. Add ice, close the lid, and shake vigorously or stir until the contents are combined and chilled, about 30 seconds. (The cocktail is ready when the shaker begins to fog up.)

    Pour the liquid into chilled champagne flutes, leaving ice in the shaker and a few leaves in the glass. Fill the glass almost to the brim with champagne. Garnish with mint sprigs. Enjoy.

  • Syrup: Pour water and sugar into a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. (Or heat in the microwave.) Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Yield: about 1.5 cups.
