Greek appetizer - grilled cheese "Saganaki" - detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 225 g of halloumi cheese, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oregano leaves (plucked from stems)
  • 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • Juice of 1 grilled lemon
  • Grilled pita bread

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Brush the cheese with olive oil and place it on a grill over medium heat, grilling for 2 minutes on each side until striped.

    Remove the cheese from the grill and cut into 1.5 cm pieces. Sprinkle with oregano. Drizzle with olive oil and squeeze lemon juice over the cheese. Serve with grilled pita bread.
