With this recipe, you can bake your own spicy bacon. Bacon strips are brushed with sugar syrup and topped with any complex seasonings, spicier or sweeter, depending on your preference. You can serve it with scrambled eggs for breakfast, wrap a snack in bacon for an especially appetizing meal, or sprinkle crispy bacon over soup or a side dish.

Place 6 thick slices of pork belly on a rack set on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until crispy, 12 to 14 minutes.

Microwave 2 tablespoons of sugar in 1 teaspoon of water until completely dissolved, about 45 seconds. Flip the bacon over and brush with syrup.

Sprinkle with seasonings (such as chili powder, pie seasoning, or Cajun seasoning). Continue baking until the bacon is golden brown, another 12 to 16 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess grease.
