These sweet and crispy rolls look like dessert, but they're perfect for breakfast—they're strawberry French toast! Both adults and kids will love them, especially when it comes to making them—you can involve the kids in the process. They'll be happy to help you roll out the bread slices, spread them with cream cheese frosting, wrap them with the strawberry filling, and roll the rolls in a sugar-cinnamon mixture. If desired, you can substitute the cream cheese frosting with an equal amount of chocolate-hazelnut spread, such as Nutella. It also pairs beautifully with strawberries, and the kids will love it. Serve the rolls drizzled with maple syrup.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 190°C, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Roll each slice of bread flat with a rolling pin and spread with 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture. Place 2 teaspoons of diced strawberries on one end of each slice. Starting at that end, roll each slice into a log. Press the seams to seal the rolls, and reinsert any escaping filling if necessary.
- In a small bowl, whisk the cream and eggs. In a shallow dish, combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Dip each roll in the egg mixture to coat completely, shake off any excess, and then coat them completely in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Arrange the rolls evenly on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
- Bake the rolls until golden brown and coated with a crispy sugar crust, about 15 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cutting board. Trim off any excess caramelized sugar and cut each roll in half diagonally (be careful when cutting, as the filling will be hot). Serve the rolls on a platter with maple syrup, if using.
- Note
Don't leave your child unattended in the kitchen. Limit them to tasks appropriate for their age.
