These crispy and fluffy cheese-filled breadsticks make a great snack for kids or a cute teacher's gift. Best of all, they're easy and fun for kids to make themselves. Let them prepare a work surface, roll out the dough, and roll the sticks, brush them with egg wash and sprinkle with cheese. The breadsticks will keep well in an airtight container for up to three days.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Recipes with similar ingredients: puff pastry, Asiago cheese, eggs

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Position 2 racks in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out 1 sheet of puff pastry with a rolling pin into a 30cm square.

  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water until smooth.
  4. Brush the dough with a thin layer of beaten egg. Sprinkle with half the Asiago cheese and press the cheese into the dough with a rolling pin or the back of a measuring cup. Cut the dough in half horizontally (a pizza wheel works well). Place one half on top of the other, cheese side up.
  5. Cut the dough into vertical strips 1 cm wide; you should have 24 of them. Take one strip, holding each end, and twist it in opposite directions to form a spiral. Place the spiral on a baking sheet and gently press the ends to the parchment paper to adhere them. Roll the remaining strips of dough in the same way, spacing them about 2 cm apart, 12 strips per baking sheet.
  6. Brush the rolled dough with beaten egg and bake until golden brown, 15-17 minutes, rotating the baking sheets halfway through. Let cool completely on the baking sheets. Repeat with the remaining puff pastry and cheese to make 24 more cheese breadsticks. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days..
