Instead of the traditional banana, this dessert uses chilled cubes of juicy watermelon as its base. Perfect for a hot summer day. Kids will love helping you assemble the dessert: scoop ice cream onto the watermelon cubes on a plate, drizzle with fresh blackberry sauce, top with whipped cream, garnish with a cherry, and sprinkle with crushed nuts. Little ones will be great with the berry puree, while older kids will be able to measure out the ingredients and beautifully assemble the watermelon split. Use any ice cream you like, experiment, and enjoy the combination of flavors and textures.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 0.5 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups chilled watermelon, cut into 2.5cm cubes (about 1 kg)
  • 4 scoops of strawberry (or any other) ice cream
  • Whipped cream, for decoration
  • 4-8 maraschino cherries
  • 1/4 cup toasted sliced ​​almonds or chopped peanuts

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the blackberries in a medium bowl and sprinkle evenly with sugar. Stir and mash with a fork. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes. Add the watermelon juices, up to 2 tablespoons, to the berry mixture and stir.
  2. To serve, arrange 1 cup of watermelon cubes on a platter in an "X" shape. Place a scoop of ice cream in the center. Spoon 2 tablespoons of blackberry sauce over the ice cream. Top with a dollop of whipped cream, 1-2 cherries, and 1 tablespoon of nuts. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 4 servings.
