Time: 10 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 1 sandwich

To prepare this dish, you'll need a skillet large enough to hold two slices of bread. All the ingredients—bread, cheese, and eggs—cook in one pan at the same time, resulting in something resembling a hot French toast sandwich with an egg and melting cheese in the middle. Following the step-by-step recipe, you'll be able to carefully fold the omelet into a beautiful sandwich. Serve for breakfast, dinner, or as a hearty snack with a light salad.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 slices of white bread
  • 2 slices of cheese

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Crack the eggs into a small bowl, add the green onions and 1 tablespoon of water and whisk.
  2. In a large nonstick skillet, heat the butter over medium-high heat until melted and beginning to darken around the edges. Add the egg mixture and spread it evenly throughout the skillet. Working quickly, dip 1 slice of bread into the eggs, then flip it over and move it to one side of the skillet. Repeat with the remaining slice of bread, placing it near the opposite edge so they line up, with the eggs surrounding them. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

  3. Continue cooking the eggs until they are completely set on the bottom, 1 to 2 minutes. Slide a large metal spatula under the bread slices and flip the entire omelet in one motion. Place the cheese on top of the omelet, covering the bread slices. Using a spatula, fold one side of the omelet (not the bread side) over the bread and cheese, then fold the other side. Then sandwich the bread slices together and continue cooking until the bread is golden brown on the bottom, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for another 1 to 2 minutes.
