Learn how to pit cherries to make a homemade dessert.

Tip #1

Rinse the cherries in a colander and remove the stems if necessary. If you have a pitter, place one cherry under the tip and press until the pit comes out the other side. It's not the cleanest process!
Tip #2

Don't have a pitting tool? Press the cherries with a knife to open them and remove the pits. Or use a pin. Make sure there are no pits left—you don't want to bump into them while enjoying your dessert.
Tip #3

The Cherry Jubilee dessert is an old classic recipe that uses the underrated flambé technique. Flambéing caramelizes the sugar, deepening the flavor—just the thing for ripe summer cherries.
