The classic Manhattan is one of the most popular cocktails in the world. It combines whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters. All the ingredients work perfectly together, creating a truly enjoyable drink. The Manhattan is traditionally served with orange zest and a maraschino cherry, and for a more refreshing taste, rub the rim of the glass with orange peel. The recipe also includes a method for preparing real maraschino cherries. They can be refrigerated for a long time and used in cocktails and desserts. They will become more delicious with each passing day.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


Cocktail

  • 2 parts whiskey
  • 1 part sweet vermouth
  • 1-2 drops of bitters, such as Angostura
  • Orange peel
  • Ice
  • Real maraschino cherries, see recipe below

Real maraschino cherries

  • 1 cup of maraschino liqueur
  • 2 cups pitted cherries (in a pinch, you can buy canned cherries in light syrup and drain the syrup)

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place ice in a cocktail shaker. Add whiskey, vermouth, and bitters. Rub the rim of the glass with orange peel. Strain the drink into the glass. Add 1-2 maraschino cherries and enjoy!
  2. Real maraschino cherries:

    Bring the liqueur to a boil, then turn off the heat. Add the cherries, stir, let cool, and then pour into jars. Refrigerate. The cherries will keep for several months.
