Pico de gallo is a Mexican salsa that's served fresh as an appetizer, perhaps with tortilla chips. It typically consists of finely chopped tomatoes, onions, chili peppers, and cilantro dressed with freshly squeezed lime juice. Try adding canned black beans to the salsa for an even more filling and delicious appetizer. The secret ingredient in this version of pico de gallo is smoked chipotle peppers. They add a subtle smoky flavor to the salsa that pairs beautifully with the beans.
