Mexican Pico de Gallo sauce - detailed recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 3 heads of yellow or red onions
  • 12 tomatoes (ripe)
  • 2 cups fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 – 3 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 lime
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Cut the onion and tomatoes into equal-sized cubes. Coarsely chop the cilantro.

    Cut 1 or 2 jalapeños in half. Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds. Chop the jalapeños very finely. Now combine all ingredients except the lime in a bowl.
  • Step 2
  • Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from each half into the bowl with the sauce. Sprinkle with salt and toss. Be sure to taste the pico de gallo before serving and adjust to your desired flavor by adding a little salt or jalapeño.
