Silky vanilla pudding topped with salted caramel bananas is the perfect dessert for any occasion. It's ready in just 15 minutes and uses simple ingredients that many people already have in their kitchen. This recipe is perfect for when you're craving something delicious in a hurry or when you need a treat for a special occasion. Served in a simple low glass or a ramekin, it looks very elegant.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2.5 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 and 1/4 cups milk
  • 3 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 55 g unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium bananas, cut into 0.5 cm thick circles.
  • 0.5 tsp coarse salt

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1/4 cup sugar and cornstarch.

    Whisk in 1/4 cup milk and the egg yolks until smooth. Stir in the remaining 2 cups milk and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently and scraping the bottom and corners of the pan with a heatproof silicone spatula. Once boiling, stir constantly until the pudding thickens, about 2 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon butter and vanilla extract. Divide the pudding among 4 short glasses.

  3. In a medium skillet, combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar with 2 tablespoons water to moisten the sugar. Cook over medium heat, swirling the pan to ensure the sugar cooks evenly, until dark golden brown, 5-7 minutes.

    Add the remaining 3 tablespoons butter, bananas, and salt and cook, stirring, until the bananas are slightly softened, about 2 minutes.
  4. Place the caramelized bananas on top of the pudding and serve warm.
