Pineapple hot dog sauce (relish) - detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 can (570 g) of pineapple pulp
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 cup diced sweet onion
  • 1/4 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime zest
  • 1 tbsp. grain mustard
  • 1 chopped clove of garlic

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place a medium skillet over medium heat, add oil, onion, and green pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are tender. Add the pineapple, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, uncovered, until the liquid has evaporated, about 30 minutes.
  2. Deglaze the pan with apple cider vinegar, add lime zest, mustard, and garlic. Cook, uncovered, over low heat until the liquid has evaporated again, about 20 minutes more. Transfer to a bowl, let cool, then cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
