In a saucepan, combine 12 oz (350 g) cranberries, 1 diced green apple, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup Cointreau or Grand Marnier orange liqueur, 1/2 cup water, and 1/4 teaspoon each ground cinnamon and cloves.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer until the berries begin to burst, about 10 minutes. Turn off the heat, stir in the grated zest of 1 lemon and orange, and let cool.
