Ingredients:

  • 2 cups premium wheat flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 4 tbsp (60 g) butter
  • 2 tablespoons of margarine
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • A handful of dried cranberries or currants
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 190°C.

    In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well. Using two knives, cut the butter and margarine directly into the flour mixture.
  • Step 2
  • In a separate bowl, combine the cream and beaten egg, then add to the dry ingredients. Stir in the dried fruit.

    Place the dough on a floured work surface. Roll out the dough and cut out round buns. Bake the scones for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
