It's no secret that the Cuban Daiquiri cocktail was a favorite drink of writer Ernest Hemingway, who loved to sip several refreshing glasses while escaping the Caribbean heat. A traditional Daiquiri is a mixture of rum, simple syrup, and lime juice. But for the famous writer, who suffered from diabetes, the bartender at his favorite bar, El Floridita, created a special Daiquiri, replacing the simple syrup with a small amount of grapefruit juice and maraschino liqueur. Try the very Daiquiri Hemingway drank and savor its vibrant flavor of the classic combination of rum and lime, with notes of sweet maraschino and bitter grapefruit.
