To truly make bite-sized snacks truly delicious, you need to pack them with ingredients that pack a punch, like these dates stuffed with cubes of Spanish Manchego cheese and wrapped in maple syrup-brushed bacon. Each bite offers a harmonious blend of textures and contrasting flavors. Baked, the bacon becomes crispy and glazed, revealing a soft, fruity, cheesy filling. Perfect with a glass of wine.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 15 pitted Medjool dates
  • 450 g aged Manchego cheese, cut into 15 cubes
  • 5 slices bacon, cut into 3 pieces each
  • 0.5 tbsp. maple syrup

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. Make a slit in one side of each date and insert a cube of Manchego cheese. Squeeze the date in your hand to seal the cheese. Wrap each date with a strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick.

  3. Place all the dates on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Bake the dates in the oven until the bacon on top begins to crisp, 5-6 minutes. Flip the dates over and bake the other side until the bacon is crisp.
  4. Remove the dates from the oven and brush both sides with maple syrup. Return the dates to the oven and bake until crisp and sticky, 1-2 minutes. Serve hot.
