This bite-sized appetizer blends the contrasting flavors of smoky chorizo, crispy bacon, and sweet, caramelized dates. Pitted dates are stuffed with sausage cubes, wrapped tightly in bacon strips, and baked under a delicious maple syrup glaze. Secure each date with a toothpick to keep the appetizer together and easy to eat with a skewer. Serve on a beautiful platter for family celebrations and parties.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 15 dried pitted dates
  • 450g cooked Spanish chorizo ​​sausage, cut into 15 cubes (to fit inside the dates)
  • 5 strips bacon, cut lengthwise into 3 pieces
  • 0.5 tbsp. maple syrup

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
  2. Make a slit in one side of each date and insert a cube of chorizo. Press the date tightly shut. Wrap each date with a strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place the dates on their sides on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the oven until the bacon on top begins to brown and crisp, 5-6 minutes. Flip the dates and continue baking until the bacon is almost completely cooked through, another 8-10 minutes.

  3. Remove the dates from the oven and brush both sides with maple syrup. Return the baking sheet to the oven and continue baking until the dates are very crisp and sticky, 1-2 minutes. Serve warm.
