How to Make Apple Jam in a Slow Cooker

Apple butter is also apple jam, only it is prepared with the addition of spices such as cinnamon, cloves and allspice.

Applesauce is best spread on toast.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1.4 kg of green Granny Smith apples
  • 1.4 kg unsweetened apple sauce
  • 4 tbsp. sugar
  • 1.5 cups apple juice
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Place all ingredients in a slow cooker bowl and stir. Cover and cook on low heat overnight, about 8-10 hours.
  2. Open the lid, stir, and taste. Add more spices or sugar if needed. Continue cooking for a few more hours, unopened, until the liquid has reduced and the applesauce is fully cooked. Pour into sterilized half-liter jars and refrigerate.

  3. Serve applesauce on hot rolls, toast, cookies, or just eat it straight from the jar when no one is watching!
