Margarita Margarita is one of the most popular cocktails in the world, yet its origins are elusive: almost every town on the Mexican-American border claims to be the drink's birthplace. The Margarita recipe is quite simple and can even be made at home.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Cocktail:

Fill a shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, syrup, and orange liqueur. Cover and shake for about 30 seconds, until the mixture is well combined and chilled. (The drink is ready when the shaker fogs up.) Sprinkle the lime, salt, and sugar mixture onto a serving dish. Press the rim of a chilled glass or goblet onto the dish so that the mixture coats the rim. Strain the margarita into the glass.
  2. Syrup:

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. (Alternatively, heat in the microwave.) The syrup can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

  3. Mix of lime, salt and sugar:

Puree the lime zest, salt and sugar in a small blender or food processor.
