Glazed Ham with Cloves

Complexity: easily
Servings: 12
This enormous ham, shaped like a leg of meat and coated in a delicious, sticky glaze, will be a simple addition to your holiday table. To prepare it, simply cut a grid pattern across the entire surface of the ham and stud it with cloves. They not only decorate the meat but also impart a stunning aroma. Bake the ham in the oven, and half an hour before it's ready, brush it with a glaze of brown sugar and mustard. The savory, caramelized flavor of the glaze pairs beautifully with the warmed, salted meat. If you're preparing a delicious dinner for one or two, a ham steak is a perfect choice. Since it bakes much faster than a whole leg of meat, brush it with the glaze immediately and pop it in the oven.
