Quick Festive Ham

How to Make - Quick Festive Ham
Time: 3 hours.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 8 - 10

This simple recipe will transform a pork ham into the centerpiece of your holiday. All you need to do is drizzle it with a sweet and spicy honey glaze and bake in the oven until the ham is deliciously glossy, fragrant, and flavorful. To make this recipe, use a spiral-cut ham so the glaze flows into all the cuts, making it even more delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ham weighing 2.7 - 3.2 kg on the bone, spiral sliced
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • Zest and juice of 1 orange
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • Grate the nutmeg 6-8 times
  • 10-12 sprigs of fresh thyme
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 160°C.
  • Step 2
  • In a bowl, combine brown sugar, honey, orange zest, 1/4 cup orange juice, pumpkin pie spices and nutmeg. Add salt.
  • Step 3
  • Unroll enough foil to cover the ham and place it in the center of the foil. Separate the ham cuts and evenly distribute the thyme sprigs inside. Pour half the glaze over the ham, allowing it to run into the cuts. Wrap the ham tightly in foil and place it on a rack in a roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with 1 inch of water and roast in the oven until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 140°F (60°C), about 20 minutes per pound.
  • Step 4
  • Pour the remaining half of the glaze into a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Stir until fine bubbles appear, then turn off the heat. The glaze will thicken as it cools.
  • Step 5
  • Increase oven temperature to 200°C.
  • Step 6
  • Remove the ham from the oven. Using tongs, carefully unwrap the foil, leaving it on the sides and underneath the ham to prevent juices from escaping. Brush the remaining glaze over the surface of the ham and return it to the oven, uncovered, for another 15 minutes. Remove the roasting pan from the oven and let the ham rest before slicing.
