These fragrant buns with the sweet and spicy flavor of green onions are ready in just half an hour. The hallmark of American biscuits is their flaky texture, and to achieve this, it's important not to over-knead the dough. Mix all the ingredients, pat the dough into a disk, and cut into wedges. The dough will be sticky and crumbly, so be sure to flour your work surface well. These buns are great for lunch instead of bread or as a snack.

Recipe:

In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour with 1 tablespoon baking powder and 1 1/4 teaspoons coarse salt. In a food processor, puree 2 cups chopped green onions and 1 cup sour cream until smooth. Stir into the flour mixture with a fork and knead into a loose dough. Pat the dough into a disk on a floured surface. Cut the disk into eighths. Brush with sour cream. Bake on a baking sheet in the oven at 425°F (220°C) until golden brown, 18-22 minutes. Drizzle with meat sauce, and serve.
