Caprese, an Italian appetizer, is a delicious combination of tomato, mozzarella, and fresh basil, all dressed in extra-virgin olive oil. Baked, the tomato flavor intensifies and sweetens, while the melting mozzarella is sure to impress. Bake the caprese on baguette slices, drizzle with olive oil, and serve as an appetizer with wine.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 baguette, sliced ​​into 1cm thick slices (about 30-36 slices)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 5 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 600 g fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced
  • 1 bunch fresh basil, leaves only

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 230°C.

    Place the sliced ​​baguette on a baking sheet. Brush with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake until the bread is pale golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove from the oven.
  2. Top each slice of bread with a slice of tomato and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Top each slice of tomato with a slice of mozzarella and season with salt. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake until the cheese and tomato are heated through, about 5 minutes.

  3. Arrange the toasts on a serving platter. Place a basil leaf on top of each toast. Brush the basil with olive oil. Season with salt and black pepper and serve.
