Caprese with melting grilled mozzarella

Give a classic caprese appetizer a meaty twist by adding Italian prosciutto. This appetizer will be a hit at your party. Slices of mozzarella are wrapped in paper-thin strips of prosciutto and grilled until crispy and gooey in the center. Arrange the wrapped mozzarella on a serving platter in the traditional manner, alternating with tomato slices. Top the caprese with sliced cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves, and drizzle with the dressing. A perfect Italian wine pairing that captivates with its combination of flavors.
Ingredients:
- 1 ball (450 g) of mozzarella, cut into 0.5 cm thick slices.
- 10-15 slices prosciutto (90-130 g)
- 2-3 large tomatoes, sliced 1 cm thick.
- 1.5 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar
- Sea salt flakes and freshly ground black pepper
- 0.5 cup torn fresh basil

Preparation:
- Step 1
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Wrap each mozzarella slice with a slice of prosciutto to completely cover. Place on the prepared baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Freeze for about 30 minutes to firm up. Step 2
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella until the ham is crisp and the cheese is just beginning to melt, about 1 minute per side. Step 3
- Place the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella and sliced tomatoes on a platter, alternating and overlapping. Top with cherry tomatoes. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with basil.
