Alcoholic jelly is gaining popularity: it's a striking presentation, a dessert and a cocktail all in one, perfect for fun parties. Alcoholic jelly looks especially appealing when served in lemon peels, like sliced lemons. It's quite simple to make: fill lemon peel halves with a mixture of gelatin and pink lemonade and vodka, then chill in the refrigerator. All that's left to do is cut into wedges and serve. If you're making this dessert for children, simply replace the vodka with an equal amount of water.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. In a small saucepan, bring 0.5 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove from heat and add the gelatin. Stir until completely dissolved. Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, cut each lemon in half lengthwise. Carefully scoop the pulp out of the rind and transfer it to a small bowl, being careful not to damage the rind; set the rinds aside. Mash the pulp to release the lemon juice. Strain through a fine sieve. You'll need 1 cup of freshly squeezed juice. Discard the pulp.

  3. Combine lemon juice, cranberry juice, and gelatin mixture in a large pitcher. Add vodka.
  4. Place the lemon peel halves on a rimmed baking sheet and pour the gelatin mixture into each half. Refrigerate until completely set (the jelly should not stick to your finger when touched), about 8 hours or overnight.
  5. To serve, cut each lemon half into 3 wedges.
