Who said hot chocolate has to be dark? It's just as delicious with white chocolate, and topped with crushed red and white candy canes and a drop of mint extract, the drink becomes magical and Christmassy. Another secret: a little vodka in the hot chocolate will instantly lift your spirits!

Ingredients:

  • 2 mint candy canes, crushed
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 220 g white chocolate, chopped
  • 1/3 cup vodka
  • 2 tsp peppermint extract
  • Whipped cream, for decoration
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Place crushed candy on a small plate. Wet the rims of four mugs with a damp towel and dip them into the candy until it sticks.
  • Step 2
  • Combine the milk and white chocolate in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vodka and peppermint extract.
  • Step 3
  • Pour hot chocolate into prepared mugs, immediately garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
