Valerie Bertinelli infuses her hot chocolate with cinnamon flavor by simply adding a couple of cinnamon sticks to the pot while slowly simmering milk with Mexican chocolate. The resulting drink is silky, warming, and subtly spicy.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • A bar (100 g) of chocolate with cinnamon (cocoa content 56%), chopped
  • Mini marshmallows, for decoration
  • Additionally: 4 mugs 250 ml.
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a medium saucepan, bring the milk and cinnamon sticks to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring with a wooden spoon, then remove the cinnamon sticks.
  • Step 2
  • Add the chocolate and stir until melted. Pour a little whiskey into the mugs, pour in the hot chocolate, and serve, sprinkled with marshmallows.
