Enjoy the combination of chocolate and mint in this cozy winter drink, the taste of which is sure to set the holiday spirit. In addition to cocoa, real chocolate is added to the milk, creating a rich and satisfying drink, while a mint candy adds a hint of peppermint. Top with whipped cream and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of milk of any fat content
  • 0.5 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 110 g semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp chopped mint leaves, plus extra for sprinkling
  • A pinch of coarse salt
  • Unsweetened whipped cream, for serving
  • Mint cane, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the milk with vanilla extract until steaming. Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate, crushed peppermint, and salt in a bowl, then whisk in the milk.
  • Step 2
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer the cocoa, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate and candy melt and the cocoa thickens slightly, about 2 minutes. Pour into 4 mugs and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with crushed mint candies and serve with a mint cane.
