Calzone Pizza with Pepperoni - a detailed recipe.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g pizza dough, divided into 4 pieces
  • 1 can (800 g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp. coarsely grated mozzarella cheese
  • 340 g of thinly sliced ​​pepperoni
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, plus more for greasing
  • 1/2 small onion, diced
  • 1 crushed clove of garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and crushed black pepper
  • 4-6 fresh basil leaves (torn into pieces)
  • Grated Parmesan to taste
  • Flour for working with dough

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, 2-3 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add the tomato paste and sauté for another minute.

    Add diced tomatoes, sugar, salt, and pepper. Add basil leaves and bring the contents of the saucepan to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 15 minutes while you work with the dough.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into four equal-sized circles. Top half of each circle with some mozzarella, then a few slices of pepperoni.

    Fold in half to enclose the filling, then pinch the edges to create a nice seam. Place the calzone on a baking sheet, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan.

    Bake until golden brown, 10-15 minutes. Serve with tomato sauce in a separate ceramic bowl.
