Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 220°C.
- In a small saucepan, bring the jam and diluted cornstarch to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring, for 3-4 minutes. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
- Place 1 sheet of pastry on a cutting board and cut it into 4 long, narrow strips of equal size. Place a heaping teaspoon of cooled jam in the top center of each piece and fold the bottom half of the pastry over the filling. Seal the edges with a little water and press them with a fork. Place the puff pastry sheets on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with the second sheet of pastry. Bake until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the puff pastry sheets from the oven and let them cool completely.
- Place powdered sugar in a small bowl and whisk in lemon juice, 1/2 tablespoon at a time, until the glaze thickens. Drizzle the glaze over the puff pastry and sprinkle with colored sugar if desired. Let the glaze set for about 30 minutes. Serve the puff pastry at room temperature.
