These crispy and sweet cookies are perfect with tea or a glass of milk. Treat yourself and your loved ones with this easy molasses cookie recipe. Just remember, sweets are best enjoyed in moderation, although with these cookies, it's easy to forget.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup light molasses
  • 2 and 1/4 cups premium flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.5 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Granulated sugar for rolling

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a large bowl, combine the margarine and brown sugar. Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat until smooth. Add the egg and molasses; beat until light and fluffy.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt. Beat the mixture into the wet ingredients on low speed. Chill the dough for 3 hours or overnight.

  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll the dough into 2.5cm diameter balls; dip one side in sugar. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet, sugared side up, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
