This casserole makes a great side dish for barbecued meats, as well as a hearty main course. After removing the pan from the oven, you can sprinkle the surface with mozzarella. If you do the same with pre-cooked bacon, rather than adding it before baking, it will stay crispy. Some may find the dish too sweet, so reduce the amount of sugar and ketchup.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 700 g lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, cored and seeded, finely chopped
  • 2 cans (450 g each) of stewed pork with beans
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons hot mustard
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp. l. brown sugar
  • 6-8 slices bacon, cut into pieces and cooked

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Spray a 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large saucepan, brown the ground beef with the onion and bell pepper. Add the pork and beans to the mixture. barbecue sauce, mustard, Worcestershire and soy sauces, brown sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it on top. ketchup with baconCover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
