Fried Coke is neither a joke nor a myth. It's a dessert invented in 2006 by American Abel Gonzalez, who presented it at the annual Texas State Fair and won an award for it. Despite the high calorie content of Fried Coke, the public was delighted with the new treat. In the first two weeks, 10,000 cups of Fried Coke were sold. It consists of balls of dough filled with Coca-Cola, deep-fried. They are typically served in a glass and topped with various syrups, whipped cream, and a cherry.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 190°C.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, Coca-Cola, and granulated sugar. Sift 2 cups of flour, baking powder, and salt into the same bowl. Mix, adding more flour until the batter is smooth and not too thick.

  3. Roll the dough into 4 cm diameter balls. Drop them into the oil and fry for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the balls to a paper towel to drain off excess oil.
  4. Dust the hot fried balls with powdered sugar and drizzle with Cola syrup. Garnish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry and serve.
