These Magic Bars have been a popular homemade treat in America for years. And because Americans love as many delicious things as possible in one bite, these cookies are incredibly rich and satisfying. They're loaded with everything. The bottom layer—a graham cracker crust—is topped with condensed milk, chocolate chips, nuts, caramel bits, and coconut flakes. And then it's all baked. The cookies have a wonderful consistency, a little chewy, with delicious bits in the filling. And most importantly—minimum fuss and dirty dishes, and maximum flavor. A true delight for those with a sweet tooth.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 110 g melted butter + extra for greasing the pan
  • 2 cups crushed graham crackers
  • 400 g of condensed milk with sugar
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel or peanut butter chips
  • 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup sweet coconut flakes

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease a 22 x 32 cm baking dish with butter.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and crushed graham crackers together with your hands until the mixture forms a ball when pressed together. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press it into the bottom of the pan into an even layer, using the bottom of a measuring cup to help. Pour the condensed milk over the cake, then sprinkle with chocolate chips, caramel pieces, pecans, and coconut.

  3. Bake until the edges are golden brown and starting to pull away from the sides of the pan, 30 to 40 minutes. Cool completely in the pan. Cut into 48 small squares (they're very filling). The cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
