Prepare cheese fondue according to all the rules, using all the traditional ingredients for this unique dish. First, rub a ceramic bowl with garlic and heat white wine and lemon juice in it. Once the liquid begins to boil, gradually begin to stir in the grated cheese. Ideally, use at least two types of Swiss cheese, adding a little starch to ensure the cheese mixture is smooth and chewy. Finally, stir in spices and cherry kirsch for a more piquant and interesting flavor. The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 220 g of grated imported Swiss cheese
  • 220 g grated Gruyere
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cherry brandy, such as kirsch
  • 0.5 tsp mustard powder
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Vegetables or bread for dipping

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a small bowl, combine the cheeses with cornstarch. Rub the inside of a ceramic fondue bowl with garlic; discard any remaining garlic.
  2. Bring the wine and lemon juice to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Gradually stir in the cheese. Melting the cheese gradually will result in a smoother fondue. Once the mixture is smooth, stir in the cherry brandy, mustard, and nutmeg.

  3. Place small pieces of vegetables and French bread on a turntable for dipping. You can also add sliced ​​Granny Smith apples and blanched vegetables like cauliflower, carrots, and asparagus. Spear them with fondue forks or wooden skewers, dip, and enjoy!
