This sandwich is filled with aromatic Italian taleggio cheese, thin slices of natural ham, caramelized onions, and thinly sliced green apple, whose sweet-tart flavor and juiciness perfectly complement the fried onions. Top with a second slice of bread and pan-fry in butter on both sides until the cheese melts, the bread crisps, and the aroma is irresistible. This sandwich is very filling, perfect for breakfast or a hearty snack.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon (15 g) of butter with the olive oil. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can use prepared onion preserves instead of caramelized onions.
- Place 4 slices of bread on a work surface. Top with half the cheese, then half the ham, a layer of caramelized onions, apple slices, and top with the remaining ham, cheese, and remaining bread slices.
- Wipe out the skillet; melt 1 tablespoon (15 g) butter over medium-low heat. Place 2 sandwiches in the skillet and cook, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown on the bottom and the cheese is melted, about 4 minutes.
- Flip and cook on the other side until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Repeat with the remaining butter and sandwiches.
