This pressed sandwich with pork, cheese, and pickles is incredibly popular in Miami, but it was invented by Cuban immigrants in Tampa. In the late 19th century, attempting to create a traditional Cuban sandwich with a variety of meats, they used what was most readily available: roast pork and ham, popularized by Spanish and Italian influence in the region. Sometimes salami is also added to the Cuban sandwich. Both options are delicious.
