A fun twist on the American Moscow Mule, this cranberry-infused cocktail transforms into an equally delicious fall drink. The traditional lime juice is replaced with orange juice, and some of the ginger beer is added with unfiltered cranberry juice. The Moscow Mule is traditionally served over ice in chilled copper mugs. Garnish each serving with syrup-soaked cranberries.

To make this drink, you'll need simple sugar syrup, the recipe for which is also provided below. You can make it ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1 heaping tbsp dried cranberries, for serving
  • 60 ml simple syrup + extra for soaking cranberries
  • 180 ml of vodka
  • 120 ml orange juice
  • 120 ml unfiltered cranberry juice

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Place the dried cranberries in a small bowl and add enough sugar syrup to cover them. Let them soak until the cranberries soften slightly, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, chill 4 copper mugs in the freezer.
  2. For each drink, combine 45 ml of vodka, 30 ml each of orange juice and cranberry juice, and 15 ml of simple syrup in a shaker filled with large ice cubes and shake vigorously. Add 30 ml of ginger beer, close the shaker again, and gently shake it back and forth once (this will mix the drink without flattening the beer).

  3. Strain into a chilled copper mug and fill with fresh ice. Garnish with a few plump cranberries.

To make simple sugar syrupHeat equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves; let cool. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one month.
