Icy watermelon wedges on sticks, soaked in a sweet and tart tequila cocktail, are perfect for summer parties. Before enjoying this adult-friendly watermelon, spritz it with lime juice and sprinkle with chili powder for an even brighter, more contrasting flavor.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 small watermelon (about 2 kg), cut into 2.5 cm thick wedges.
  • 200 ml white or silver tequila
  • 0.5 cup lime juice + lime wedges for serving
  • 0.5 cups light agave nectar
  • Chili powder, for serving
  • Special equipment: about 24 wooden popsicle sticks; 1 large zip-lock bag

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Pierce the rind of each watermelon slice with the tip of a knife to make a slit 0.5 cm wide and about 2.5 cm deep.
  2. Combine the tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar in a very large zip-lock plastic bag. Add the watermelon, seal the bag, and gently invert it to coat the watermelon evenly. Refrigerate for about 1 hour, inverting it once more.

  3. Line 2 baking sheets with waxed paper. Insert a popsicle stick into the crevice of each watermelon slice. Place on the prepared baking sheets and freeze until the flesh is firm, about 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Serve with lime wedges and sprinkle with chili powder.
