Tender sugar snap peas can be eaten on their own, or for a simple and delicious Asian-inspired side dish, steam them and toss with sesame oil, ginger, and onion. Serve with meat and fried chicken, or enjoy as an appetizer.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g sugar snap peas
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Boil 450g of sugar snap peas (teased ends removed) in a steamer basket set over a pan of simmering water, covered, for 3 minutes.
  2. Transfer to a bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon chopped shallot, 2 teaspoons each sherry vinegar and sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon each grated ginger and coarse salt.
