Time: 30 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 60 pcs.

Paula Deen's oatmeal cookies require no rolling pin or fancy cookie cutters—just place the dough on a greased baking sheet and bake these little treats for 12-15 minutes. The flavor of these soft and sweet cookies is enhanced by firm raisins, crunchy walnuts, and nearly half a dozen ground spices. And best of all, they're topped with a gorgeous, creamy, richly golden-brown, nutty frosting made with melted butter whipped until fluffy.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease one or more baking sheets.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter, vegetable shortening, and sugar in a bowl until fluffy. Add the egg and beat until the mixture turns lighter.

  3. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice; stir into the creamed mixture. Add the oats, raisins, walnuts, and vanilla extract and mix well. Drop the batter by heaping teaspoons onto a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Frost with glaze.
  4. Brown Butter Frosting:

In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat the butter, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Remove from heat and stir in the sifted powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Add enough water (2-3 tablespoons) to make the glaze the consistency of thick sour cream. Pour the glaze over the warm cookies.
