Surprise your guests with a unique punch served directly from a large watermelon. The rind is cut out, the flesh is blended with an immersion blender, and the watermelon juice is mixed with vodka and lime juice. A splash of limoncello liqueur adds an extra punch of flavor. Serve it in edible kiwi shot glasses, similar to the Sake Bomb, placing the limoncello glasses on chopsticks over the watermelon. Guests should bang the table to knock the glasses into the punch. A fun drink for a summer house party.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Cut a thin slice from one side of the watermelon so it sits securely on the cutting board. Cut off about 1/6 of the top side of the watermelon. Transfer the watermelon to a baking dish or roasting pan (to catch the juice). Gently press an immersion blender into the pulp and blend on low speed. While blending, be careful and keep the blender submerged in the juice at all times to avoid splashing. Drain and strain the juice.
  2. Pour 8 cups of strained juice back into the watermelon, and transfer the rest to an ice cube tray and freeze for serving. Stir in the vodka and lime juice. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.

  3. To make kiwi shot glassesCut off both rounded ends of the kiwi and carefully peel the skin with a small knife. Cut each kiwi in half and scoop out the cores and seeds, being careful not to cut through the entire fruit. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  4. Place the chilled watermelon on the table. Depending on its size, place 2-4 pairs of chopsticks on top, approximately 2 cm apart. Arrange the kiwi shot glasses so that two halves rest on each pair of chopsticks. Pour limoncello into the glasses, adding a little to the watermelon. Gather all your friends and bang the table around the watermelon until the kiwi shot glasses fall into the drink. Serve with cubes of frozen watermelon juice.
