Make a simple yet delicious homemade casserole using store-bought tortellini, tiny Italian dumplings filled with cheese. Boil the tortellini until just cooked through, toss them with marinara sauce, mascarpone, and fresh herbs, top with slices of smoked mozzarella and Parmesan, and bake until done. Four types of cheese, including the one used in the tortellini filling, infuse the casserole with a fantastically complex flavor. Serve the tortellini hot to enjoy the gooey topping.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g store-bought tortellini with cheese
  • 2 tbsp. marinara sauce
  • 1/3 tbsp. mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 60 g thin slices of smoked mozzarella
  • 1/4 tbsp. freshly grated parmesan
  • Olive oil

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 175°C and lightly grease a 20x20x5cm baking dish.
  2. Combine the sauce, mascarpone cheese, parsley, and thyme in a large bowl. Cook the tortellini in a large saucepan of boiling salted water until tender, about 2 minutes. Drain. Add the tortellini to the sauce and toss to coat.

  3. Transfer the tortellini in the sauce to the prepared baking dish. Top with smoked mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan. Cover and bake until the sauce is bubbling and the cheeses are melted, about 30 minutes.
