One of the easiest recipes for baked asparagus with a crispy topping, ready in just 20 minutes. The asparagus is baked on its own, then a few minutes before it's ready, it's topped with breadcrumbs, grated pecorino cheese, herbs, and butter, and then grilled in the oven until crispy. This side dish looks very impressive and festive. It pairs well with meat, poultry, and fish dishes.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 900 g asparagus
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp chopped thyme

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a 3-quart baking dish, toss 900 g of asparagus with 1 tbsp of olive oil and a pinch of salt and black pepper.
  2. Bake in the oven at 425°F (220°C) until the asparagus is crisp-tender, 10 to 12 minutes. Combine 1/4 cup whole-wheat breadcrumbs with 2 tablespoons grated Pecorino cheese, 1 tablespoon chopped thyme, and 1 tablespoon melted butter.

  3. Sprinkle the asparagus with the topping. Grill in the oven until the breadcrumbs are golden brown, 2-4 minutes.
