Whole wheat flour and dried fruit make traditional American chocolate chip cookies healthier, enriching them with fiber and essential micronutrients. Dried cranberries or dried cherries can be added along with the chocolate. When baking, adjust the baking time according to your family's favorite type of cookie—crispy cookies take a little longer to bake, while softer, chewier cookies can be baked sooner.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Position two racks evenly in the center of the oven and preheat to 375°F (190°C). If you only have one baking sheet, let it cool completely before baking the next batch.
- In a large bowl, mix the sugar, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. In another bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Using a wooden spoon, fold the flour mixture into the liquid mixture, being careful not to overmix. Stir in the chocolate chips and dried fruit.
- Place 1 tablespoon of dough on each prepared baking sheet. Lightly moisten your hands and roll the dough into balls. Place them on the baking sheets, spacing them about 5 cm apart.
- Bake until golden brown but still soft in the center, about 12-14 minutes, depending on how soft or crisp you like your cookies. Using a spatula, transfer the hot cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve. Store cookies in a tightly sealed container for up to 3 days..
