If you have leftover turkey gravy and mashed potatoes after a holiday dinner, bake a delicious shepherd's pie the next day that the whole family will love. Fresh ground beef, frozen vegetables, and gravy are used to create a thick meat filling, which is then topped with a layer of potatoes and baked until golden brown.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 900 g of ground dark and white turkey meat, 15% fat
  • 1.5 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup leftover turkey gravy
  • 0.5 cup frozen corn, defrosted
  • 1/2 cup frozen lima beans, thawed
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until very hot. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

  3. Add the ground turkey, then sprinkle with salt, paprika, and garlic powder. Cook, breaking up the turkey with a wooden spoon, until browned, about 6 minutes. Add the gravy, corn, lima beans, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Reduce heat and simmer for about 3 minutes.
  4. While the filling is simmering, combine the potatoes, cheese, and eggs in a large bowl. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the filling. Bake the shepherd's pie until bubbly and golden brown, 30–45 minutes.
