If you want the sweet potatoes to cook faster, simply chop them into smaller pieces. Rachel also adds her secret ingredient to the puree: sliced ​​bananas fried in oil.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:

3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1.35 kg sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 60 g butter
  • 1 sliced ​​banana
  • Juice of one peeled and squeezed orange (keep the zest)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 tsp. grated nutmeg
  • Salt, pepper

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. First, fill a pot with water and place the potatoes on the stove. Cook until they are tender. Remove from the stove, drain the water, and set the potatoes aside.
  2. Place the oil in a separate frying pan, add the banana and heat for about 5 minutes. Pour in the orange juice, add the zest and heat for another minute.

  3. Then add the potatoes, chicken broth, and brown sugar. Mash the mixture until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and orange zest to taste.
