This sweet potato mash with Parmesan and green onions is the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and spicy. It's a great alternative to traditional mashed potatoes when you're craving more flavor, and a unique side dish for holiday chicken or turkey.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1.2 kg sweet potatoes (about 6 tubers), peeled and diced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese + extra for serving
  • 2 green onions (green part only), thinly sliced, plus extra for serving

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the sweet potatoes in a large saucepan, cover with cold water, and season generously with salt. Bring to a boil and simmer until tender, 9-10 minutes. Drain thoroughly and return the sweet potatoes to the same saucepan over low heat. Mash with a potato masher until smooth. Add the butter, Parmesan, and salt and pepper to taste. Mash until the butter melts. Add the green onions. Serve sprinkled with Parmesan and green onions.
