Make mashed potatoes with milk and butter and add a couple of tablespoons of prepared horseradish for a more piquant flavor. The resulting side dish is very aromatic, delicious, and has a pleasant texture. Sprinkle with fresh green onions and serve with any meat, fish, or mushroom dish.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 kg of whole potatoes
  • 110 g softened butter or 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tbsp. horseradish
  • 0.5-3/4 cup chopped green onions

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Place the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and add 2 tablespoons of coarse salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and simmer, uncovered, until tender, about 45 minutes. Drain and cool the potatoes, then peel and transfer to a bowl.
  2. Add butter, milk, 2 teaspoons of coarse salt, and pepper to taste to the potatoes; mash with a potato masher or fork. Stir in the horseradish. Transfer to a serving platter, sprinkle with green onions, and serve.
